Shea Butter Body Cream

A look at the many soap dispensers, hand soaps, and other antibacterial mechanisms.

Keeping skin looking good is not always the easiest of tasks and there are many factors that can affect its condition. Dry skin can be especially problematic and can result in itchy and flaky patches. However, there are a number of products on the market that are designed to help with this and Shea butter body cream is one of those to consider.

Shea butter is a natural fat that is produced from the nuts of the African Shea tree. Once extracted it has a number of uses and typically has applications in medicine, cooking and cosmetics. Shea butter is considered to be an effective moisturizer and for this reason it can be included as an ingredient in a range of cosmetic products such as soaps, shampoos and creams. There are a few companies that produce Shea butter body cream and this can be used to moisturize and protect skin to help it remain in good condition.

Shea butter body cream is usually a thicker cream which is designed specifically for use on the arms, legs and body. While in some cases it can be light enough for use on the face and neck, this should only be done when the product details show that this is appropriate and reading the detailed product instructions prior to use is generally recommended.

There are a few manufacturers that produce Shea butter body cream products. L’Occitane is one of these and they are particularly well known for their Shea butter products which they have been producing for around 20 years. The Ultra Rich Body Cream is an example of the L’Occitane Shea butter range and with a 25% concentration, Shea butter makes up a quarter of the ingredients in the product. It is rapidly absorbed into the skin and has a non greasy texture. The cream is available unscented or can come delicately fragranced, with apricot flower, rose and orange honey being some of the scents available. The Ultra Rich Body Cream is generally recommended for those that have dry to very dry skin and retails at around $21 for a 3.5oz tub or $39 for a 7oz tub.

Another company that produces Shea butter products is Skin Authority. They have the Olive, Fig & Shea Butter Body Cream available, with a 6oz tube costing $28. It can be used to detoxify, moisturize and protect skin with a blend of ingredients which includes Shea butter, fig extracts and olive oil. It also includes jasmine, citrus and sage essential oils to provide a pleasant aroma and although the cream is rich in texture it is easily absorbed into the skin without clogging the pores.

For those that are prone to dry, dehydrated and flaky skin, Shea butter body cream can be a good product to try. The penetrating moisturizing effect of Shea butter can be particularly effective at hydrating skin, helping to keep it in better condition and looking healthier. For these reasons it can be a good choice of cream for someone with dry skin to have available.
